We offer classes in a variety of settings.  We teach Concealed Carry Classes in classrooms available at various locations in the Denver Metro Area.  We will also teach Concealed Carry Classes for businesses, civic groups, neighborhood gatherings (think tupperware party) and church organizations in their facilities or in facilities which we provide.  Live fire courses including Basic Handgun Skills,  Defensive Handgun Skills, Private Instruction and the Phase II portion of the NRA Basic Pistol Class are held at an outdoor private gun club in a safe setting in large enclosed private berms.  We will have the freedom to draw from holsters, shoot at a variety of targets and train at our own pace without others interfering with us or endangering us.

CONCEALED CARRY CLASS – 4 1/2 hours.  Classroom.  Qualifies for Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) also know as Concealed Carry Permit.  No firearms or live ammunition allowed in the room.  This class will review basic handgun safety and operations; however, it presumes you have proper experience with a handgun or will obtain more training prior to obtaining your permit.  Depending on your skill level you may want to take the Basic Handgun Skill Class or Defensive Handgun Skill Class described below.   This Concealed Carry Class will cover –

Developing a Personal and Home Protection Plan – We will discuss conflict avoidance, situational awareness, color code of awareness, combat mindset, observing our surroundings, visualization and mental exercises, home security and defense.

The Legal Use of Force – Comparing Reasonable force versus Deadly force and the continuum between the two.  Will the prosecutor agree with your definition of what was reasonable?

Violent Encounters and the Aftermath – The physiology of the fight, sensory distortions.  The fight itself and the immediate aftermath.  What to do when the police arrive and the criminal, legal and financial implications.

Self Defense Firearm Basics – Universal Safety Rules, understanding the different types of handguns and the pros and cons of each.  Understanding ammunition.  Which handgun is right for you.

Shooting Fundamentals –  Proper Stance, grip, sight picture, sight alignment, trigger control, marksmanship versus combat accuracy.

Gear and Gadgets – A review of all the necessary accessories to be a responsible gun owner as well as to carry concealed and a few toys you didn’t know you need.

Training Ideas and Where Do You Go From Here – Training ideas.  The process to actually obtain your Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit.

Requirements – Bring a pen and a photo ID.  We will provide you with a notebook with the course outline and other important information including an application for your concealed handgun permit and a course certificate indicating you have successfully completed this course.

Price $90.00 without Textbook; $120.00 with Textbook.  Students who take this Concealed Carry Class will receive $15 dollars off either the Basic Handgun Skills Class or the Defensive Handgun Skills Class if they take the Skills Class within 90 days of the Concealed Carry Class.

NRA BASIC PISTOL – Phase I (Online) Self paced.  Phase II (Class and Range) – 5 hours. The NRA Basic Pistol class begins with Phase I which is a self paced e-learning class online.  Upon successfully completing the online portion which provides a good interactive education of all things handguns and upon passing the online test, then you are ready to register for Phase II.  Phase II is 5 hours.  In Phase II we will have a brief review of the online materials and how it applies to the real thing followed by range time.  Qualifies for Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) also known as Concealed Carry Permit.  This is a broad course and is perfect for the first timer handgun owner, those who would like to become more comfortable with handguns and firearm ownership; and those who would like to broaden their knowledge of handguns.  This course will cover –

Pistol Maintenance, Selection and Use – Selecting pistols, ammunition and accessories.  Cleaning and maintaining your pistol.  Pistol shooting activities and skill development.

BASIC HANDGUN SKILLS – 4+ hours range time.  This class is perfect for the beginner, or those who have some experience but no formal training.  We will cover all the basic knowledge, attitude and skills you need to know to safely operate your handgun and become a proficient marksman.    We will use teaching, skill drills and practice to help you become successful with your handgun.  And we will certainly have fun along the way. 

 This course will cover –

Safety – Basic Firearm and Range Safety.

The Shooting Platform – Here we teach the grip, the stance and how to control recoil.  We will review different stances, the pluses and minuses of each and which is right for you.  Most importantly we will teach you how to properly and consistently grip your pistol.

The Keys to Marksmanship – To be successful, you must understand and master sight alignment, sight picture and all aspects of trigger control.

DEFENSIVE HANDGUN SKILLS – 7+ hours range time.  Perhaps you go to the range on occasion.  Or you enjoy shooting bulls-eyes for bragging rights with your buddies.  And plinking is a blast.  But in a defensive situation, is it enough?  Maybe.  Maybe not.  This class is for anyone who wants to build the knowledge, attitude and skills for a defensive handgun situation.  The father who wants to defend his family, the mom who wants to protect her kids, the single guy or gal who lives alone, the senior citizen who wants to be sure of they’re safe at home, anyone who realizes they are their own first responder.  We’re assuming here you have acquired Basic Handgun Skills.  The Defensive Handgun Skills Class will build on those basic skills but the goals are much different than just hitting the bulls-eye.  There’s movement, combat accuracy, drawing from your holster.  The need to balance accuracy and speed.  You will build skills which allow you to apply concepts learned in the Concealed Carry Classroom.  This course will cover –

Basic Handgun Safety and Range Safety – We always start with safety.

Review the Basic Skills – Just want to make sure we are all on the same page and provide a brief refresher.

Defensive Handgun Skills – This is far different than plinking!  Among the skills you will learn are Combat Accuracy, Understanding the balance between Speed and Accuracy, Different sight pictures and if and when to use them, Trigger reset, Drawing from a holster, Drawing from concealment garments, Movement, Situational awareness, Thinking in three dimensions, Multiple targets.

Handgun Operating Skills – These skills are too often overlooked and under practiced but knowing how to run your gun is crucial and should be second nature.  Here you will learn tactical reloads, emergency reloads, and clearing type 1, type 2 and type 3 malfunctions.

Requirements – Please bring • Photo ID • Handgun • 2 Magazines if possible • Minimum of 200 rounds of factory ammunition for your handgun (no reloads or hand loads and no steel ammo or steel cased ammo) • Water • Lunch and/or Snacks • Sunscreen • Holster (holster should have no retention devices, should be worn on the hip, preferably outside the waistband) • Magazine Pouch (at least 2 for a single stack handgun and at least 1 for a double stack handgun.)  Wear seasonally appropriate clothing and solid closed toe footwear. Private Instruction – You, your experience level and your goals will dictate the class material. We would be glad to tailor classes for beginners, intermediates and advanced students.  This can include Basic Skills, Defensive Skills, Advanced Skills.  If you have a specific area in which you would like to improve, I will provide drills to meet your needs.  Instruction could include simulated night shooting, flashlight techniques, running your gun by feel.  Longer private sessions will be held outdoors at a private range.  Depending on the skill to be developed, shorter sessions may be held at an indoor range (in which case additional range fees may be required.)

Requirements – Will be dependent upon the material to be covered.  At a minimum, please bring • Photo ID • Handgun • 2 Magazines if possible • Ammunition for your handgun – amount to be determined (no reloads or hand loads and no steel ammo or steel cased ammo) • Water • Lunch and/or Snacks • Sunscreen for outdoor classes.  Wear seasonally appropriate clothing and solid closed toe footwear.  If you don’t have a handgun, please let me know ahead of time.  Eye protection and Hearing protection (preferably electronic hearing protection) and a ball cap type of hat required for Range time.
