Shooting is a blast! It is also deadly serious. Citizen Defense strikes that balance in our classes and instruction. The classes are not boot camp. We have fun without forgetting the gravity of what we are doing – teaching the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to become competent with a firearm.
We teach concealed carry classes, beginners, basic handgun skills, defensive handgun skills, movement, running your gun and refresher courses all with safety being at the forefront.
We provide NRA certified handgun instruction. We are also an affiliate instructor with the United States Concealed Carry Association.

CLASSES
Classes offered are summarized below. For additional information click the classes button below or in the menu for more information.
CONCEALED CARRY CLASS – Qualifies for Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP). Classroom Only (4 hours). Covers proper mindset, situational awareness, avoidance, legal, moral and ethical considerations. This class will review basic handgun safety and operations; however, it presumes you have proper experience with a handgun or will obtain more training prior to obtaining your permit.
NRA BASIC PISTOL CLASS – Qualifies for Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP). Online (self paced), followed by class and range time (5 hours.) Perfect for the beginner or those with limited experience with handguns. A broad course which covers various types of handguns, ammunition and the basic knowledge, skills and attitude to safely handle a handgun.
BASIC HANDGUN SKILLS – Range time (4+ hours.) All the basic knowledge, skills and attitude you need to know to safely handle your handgun and become a proficient marksman. And we will certainly have some fun along the way.
DEFENSIVE HANDGUN SKILLS – Range time (7+ hours.) Being a marksman on the range is not enough in a defensive situation. You need to know how to draw from your holster and run your gun. Taking time to shoot bullseyes won’t do it either. This is about being combat accurate. As always, safety is crucial and the class will be peppered with information you need to know about a self defense situation.
PRIVATE INSTRUCTION – Handling a firearm is a perishable skill. There is always more to learn and more skills to perfect. Multiple adversaries, movement, night training, how to handle your handgun and a light. Keep your skills fresh and broaden your skill set with private instruction on the range.
